Of all the markets I have visited in London, covered or open, I have to put on record that the most beautiful of them, rather spectacular is the Leadenhall market. Standing here since 14th Century having seen many inclement weathers, the covered market has preserved its architecture and looks new. And if this was not enough you have seen this market in Harry Potter movie!
Right now we are in lockdown and this was the right time for clicking some photos to get the best of the grand architecture of the market. And a giant Christmas tree is installed in the center of the market.
Its very easy to reach Leadenhall market. The nearest tube station is Monument or Bank or Liverpool street. The entrance is from Gracechurch street. However you can enter from Leadenhall street as well. There are several cafes, boutiques, pubs and restaurants in the market for spending a complete day.
Depicted in Harry Potter Movies as the magical shopping street, Diagon Alley behind the pub Leaky Cauldron. Not only Harry Potter but many other movies and telly scenes are also shot in the market.
Further from here?
If after shopping and eating at some of the best places in the market, you have energy left or you want to burn some calories, you can walk around the Fenchurch area and admire the tall skyscrapers or head to the sky garden at 1, Fenchurch street for best views of London.
You can also walk to Tower bridge and stroll alongside Thames and relax.
